Job Title: Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are currently recruiting dedicated Pastoral Support Officers to work within schools across Sunderland. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development in a positive school environment.

About the Role:

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting pupils who may face emotional, social, or behavioural challenges. Working alongside school staff and safeguarding teams, you will help students build confidence, improve engagement, and overcome barriers to learning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group pastoral support
  • Support pupils with emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance
  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and school life
  • Build strong and professional relationships with students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and safeguarding staff
  • Support behaviour management strategies and student interventions
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, children, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient nature
  • Ability to manage challenging situations professionally
  • Flexible and dependable approach to work
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
