Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £115 per day
Provide consistent, individualised support to pupils with additional needs, helping them engage in learning, develop confidence, and make meaningful progress!
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support students at a specialist setting in York. This role is based within a secondary provision, supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide individualised support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they are fully included in learning and school life.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
- Assist in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams.
- Follow safeguarding policies and contribute to a safe environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Be a patient, empathetic, and supportive educator.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
