Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently looking for a compassionate and proactive Support Worker to support students at a specialist educational setting in Scarborough.
As a Support Worker, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to help create a structured, nurturing, and supportive learning environment where students can develop confidence, independence, and positive social skills.
About the Setting:
The school provides a highly supportive and inclusive environment for pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs. Staff work collaboratively to deliver tailored academic and pastoral support, helping students build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve meaningful progress both inside and outside the classroom.
Main Responsibilities as a Support Worker:
- Provide targeted support to students with additional learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
- Assist students on a one-to-one and small group basis to encourage engagement and participation.
- Help implement support strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to maintain a calm and structured environment.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive setting for all students.
Requirements of Support Worker:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting students.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
