GSL Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Tooting. This is a rewarding full-time, long-term opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students who may display challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural support to access education successfully. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships, and engage with learning.
The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom. Duties may include supporting students on a 1:1 basis, managing behaviour positively, assisting with emotional regulation strategies, and encouraging participation in lessons and activities.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
- Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Be passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
- Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
