GSL Education is recruiting an experienced EAL Teacher for a school in Sheffield (S5). This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified English as an Additional Language Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive school on a flexible supply basis, starting September 2026.

About the Role: This EAL Teacher position involves delivering targeted English language support to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will work with students for whom English is an additional language, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and make measurable progress in both spoken and written English. Experience in EAL teaching, language acquisition, and differentiated instruction is essential.

EAL Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver EAL lessons and targeted language interventions for KS3 and KS4 students
  • Assess English language proficiency and adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Support EAL learners in accessing the wider school curriculum
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to develop inclusive, differentiated resources
  • Track and report on student progress in English language development
  • Promote the social integration and wellbeing of students from diverse linguistic backgrounds
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies to support student needs

EAL Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification 
  • Proven experience as an EAL Teacher or EAL Support Teacher in a UK school setting
  • Strong knowledge of EAL strategies, language acquisition theory and ESOL frameworks
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Confident in differentiated planning and adapting resources for varying language levels
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom communication skills
  • Reliable, organised and committed to inclusive education
