Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are hiring a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with schools in Rotherham, supporting students who require extra guidance to manage their emotions and stay engaged in learning.
As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide structured support, helping students build resilience, develop positive behaviours, and succeed in a supportive classroom environment.
Main Responsibilities of SEMH TA:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Support students in managing emotions and behaviour in the classroom.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining a calm and focused learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and wellbeing.
- Help implement behaviour support strategies and interventions.
- Monitor progress and report any concerns or improvements to staff.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, resilient, and supportive approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
