Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week

GSL Education are seeking confident Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Barnsley, stepping into classrooms where consistency and calm leadership are essential when teaching staff are unavailable.

About the Role:
This role is about control, clarity and continuity. You will be stepping into lessons that are already planned, ensuring students stay focused and the classroom doesn’t lose momentum when the teacher is away. Every day will look slightly different depending on the school and subject.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for full classes during teacher absence
- Keep students engaged with pre-set work and instructions
- Manage behaviour firmly and consistently
- Maintain order and pace in the classroom
- Support learning across different subjects and year groups
- Escalate concerns appropriately when needed
- Follow school-set lesson directions without deviation
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in any structured setting
- Confidence managing group behaviour independently
- Ability to stay calm and consistent under pressure
- Clear communication style and professional attitude
- Reliability and strong attendance record
