Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £85–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible
A welcoming and supportive school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Worker to join their team. This Pastoral Support Worker role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement in education.
The successful Pastoral Support Worker will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils who may require additional guidance throughout the school day. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will build positive relationships, promote good behaviour and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Worker:
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement across the school day.
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Supporting routines, attendance and transitions.
- Liaising with teaching staff, parents and external agencies where required.
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.
The Ideal Pastoral Support Worker Will:
- Have previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour or support role.
- Be calm, patient and resilient in approach.
- Have strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
- Have a fully checkable work history.
