Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time/ Part-time, Long Term/ Day-to-day

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient Mental Health Support Worker to work within schools in Newcastle. This Mental Health Support Worker role is ideal for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to regulate emotions, build resilience, and engage positively in their education. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to create a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with mental health needs.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Assist in implementing individual support and intervention plans.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
Requirements for the Mental Health Support Worker role:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or mental health needs.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- A background in education, psychology, youth work, or care is desirable.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
