Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time/ Part-time, Long Term/ Day-to-day

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Support Worker to join schools across Gateshead. This Mental Health Support Worker role is perfect for someone who is committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
In this role, you will work closely with pupils who may face emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them to build confidence, regulate emotions, and stay engaged in learning. The successful Mental Health Support Worker will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Mental Health Support Worker:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with mental health needs.
- Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with students.
- Assist with personalised support plans and interventions.
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
Requirements for the Mental Health Support Worker role:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or mental health needs.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Background in education, psychology, youth work, or care is desirable.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
