Inspire Change, Empower Young People – SEMH Teacher Needed in Sheffield (S25)!

Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield (S25)
Salary: £200 - £230 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are delighted to be supporting a nurturing and forward-thinking school in the S25 area of Sheffield to recruit a committed and skilled SEMH Teacher. This position is perfect for educators with compassion, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs — including those displaying challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities of the SEMH Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH
  • Create a safe, supportive and trauma-informed classroom environment
  • Implement effective behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to promote confidence and self-esteem
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, therapists and external agencies
  • Track and report on student progress, adapting teaching approaches as needed

Requirements for the SEMH Teacher Role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour or SEND
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to de-escalate situations
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and behaviour support strategies
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
