SEMH Teaching Assistant – Grantham (Full-Time)

We are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive specialist school in Grantham, supporting secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time role and a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

  • Supporting students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs within the classroom and around the school
  • Building positive relationships to help students feel supported, safe and engaged in learning
  • Assisting the teacher with lessons and behaviour support strategies
  • Encouraging confidence, emotional regulation and social development
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support when required

Requirements

  • Full-time availability during school hours
  • Relevant experience preferred, such as:
    • Teaching Assistant experience
    • Support Worker or Care Worker roles
    • Youth work or similar support roles
  • Any relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant, childcare, health & social care, psychology or similar) are desirable
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
