SEN Support Worker

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

A supportive and inclusive school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated SEN Support Worker to join their team. This SEN Support Worker role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them thrive in education.

The successful SEN Support Worker will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN department to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties. As an SEN Support Worker, you will provide targeted support both in and out of the classroom, helping pupils remain engaged and confident in their learning.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Support Worker:

  • Supporting pupils with additional educational needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Assisting with teaching and learning across the classroom.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement.

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and daily routines.

  • Adapting resources and activities where required.

  • Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal SEN Support Worker Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.

  • Be patient, adaptable and nurturing in approach.

  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a fully checkable work history.

This SEN Support Worker role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
