Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: £88.94 – £95 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools in Tonbridge.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who have experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs. The role involves working closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored support for pupils, helping them access learning and develop their confidence, independence, and social skills. Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience in schools as well as those with backgrounds in healthcare, nurseries, activity leadership, or similar support roles.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Support pupils with personal care or mobility where required
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff

Requirements to be a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or adults with SEN is essential
  • Background in education, healthcare, nursery work, or activity leadership is desirable
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting learners
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
