Role: Graduate Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham | Redbridge | Barking & Dagenham | Waltham Forest

Pay Scale: £90 – £110 per day (dependent on experience & contract type)

We are currently working with a number of high-performing secondary schools across East and North-East London who are seeking outstanding academic graduates to join their teams as Graduate Teaching Assistants.
This role is specifically suited to newly graduated candidates with excellent GCSE, A-Level and degree results, who are considering exploring careers in education. School-based experience is not essential, this is an ideal entry point into education for academically strong graduates who are confident, articulate, and eager to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities as a Graduate Teaching Assistant
• In-Class Academic Support: Assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons and support pupils with classwork, discussions, and tasks
• Small Group & 1:1 Intervention: Provide targeted academic support to high-potential and developing learners
• Promoting Academic Excellence: Model strong literacy, numeracy, and subject knowledge to inspire pupils
• Student Engagement: Encourage participation, confidence, and independent thinking across lessons
• Behaviour & Classroom Support: Support positive behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment
• Monitoring Progress: Observe student engagement and progress, feeding back to teaching staff
• Lesson Preparation Support: Assist with preparing resources and ensuring classrooms are ready for learning
• Safeguarding Awareness: Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety policies at all times
• Whole-School Involvement: Support enrichment activities, interventions, and wider school initiatives
We Are Particularly Keen to Hear From Graduates Who Have
• Exceptional GCSE results (strong passes across core subjects, particularly English & Maths)
• Outstanding A-Level or IB outcomes (A/A* profiles or high IB scores strongly preferred)
• A strong undergraduate degree (2:1 or First Class) from a reputable university
• Academic backgrounds in English, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, or related disciplines
• A clear interest in education, teaching, or youth development
• Confidence, maturity, and excellent communication skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A proactive, professional, and reflective approach to learning
• Flexibility and adaptability within a busy secondary school environment
