Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term / Day-to-Day

Are you a Sports Coach, Personal Trainer, or Fitness Professional ready to bring your energy and leadership skills into education? Schools across Sheffield recognise the value that coaching experience brings to the classroom — from strong behaviour management to motivation and teamwork. This is a fantastic opportunity to transfer your skills into a rewarding school-based role.

We are seeking confident, proactive individuals from sports and fitness backgrounds to work as Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors. While some roles may involve supporting PE lessons, most placements focus on classroom support and supervising pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects.

About the School:
You will be placed in supportive and well-organised schools that promote clear expectations, respect, and consistency. These schools value strong role models who can inspire students and reinforce positive behaviour. With a focus on structure and collaboration, staff work together to create a calm and purposeful learning environment where students are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, and independence.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers within lessons, helping students stay engaged and on task. As a Cover Supervisor, you will confidently lead the classroom in the teacher’s absence, delivering pre-set work and ensuring continuity of learning. Your coaching background will be key in maintaining structure, motivating students, and managing behaviour effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support students across different subjects and year groups.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students remain focused and productive.
• Uphold school behaviour policies and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Promote teamwork, resilience, and active participation.
• Provide guidance and pastoral support where required.
• Act as a dependable and professional role model at all times.

Requirements:
• Experience in Sports Coaching, Personal Training, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working with young people (preferred but not essential).
• Confidence leading groups and establishing authority.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude.

Why Apply?
• A strong entry route into a long-term career in education.
• Flexible opportunities to suit your availability.
• Valuable classroom and leadership experience.
• Potential progression into permanent school roles.

To work with GSL Education, you must:
