Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Long-term

GSL Education are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to work in schools, PRUs, alternative provisions, and specialist SEN settings across Middlesbrough. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils who need consistency, structure, and positive role models.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who display behaviour that challenges or have additional emotional and social needs. You will support learning, behaviour regulation, and emotional development, helping students remain engaged and make positive progress within education.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 or small group behaviour support

Help pupils manage emotions and behaviour in a calm, consistent manner

Support students to remain focused and engaged in learning

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Assist teachers and pastoral staff in managing classroom behaviour

Support inclusion, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or SEN needs (desirable)

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach

Ability to build rapport and maintain clear boundaries

Flexible and reliable, able to adapt to different school environments

An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
