Job Title: Art Teacher & Deputy Faculty Lead (Creative and Performing Arts)

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £150 - 220 (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Long Term, Full-time

This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead a high-performing Art and Design department. We champion the importance of Art and Design in developing creative, confident learners. As Head of Art, you will be responsible for driving engagement, innovation, and student achievement across the subject.

About the Role:

As an Art Teacher & Deputy Faculty Lead, you will deliver engaging and well-structured Art lessons across key stages while supporting the Faculty Lead in the leadership and development of Creative and Performing Arts. You will play a key role in raising standards, inspiring creativity, and supporting both staff and students to achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons aligned with the national curriculum

  • Inspire creativity and independent thinking across a range of abilities

  • Support the Faculty Lead in curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing meaningful feedback

  • Support and mentor colleagues within the Creative and Performing Arts faculty

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders and wider school teams

  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification in Art

  • Experience teaching Art at secondary level

  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Creative and Performing Arts

  • Evidence of leadership responsibility or readiness to step into a leadership role

  • Confident classroom management and strong communication skills

  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to student achievement and wellbeing

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
