A Fantastic Opportunity to Join a School as a Behaviour Support / Mentor in Wakefield – WF4

Location: Wakefield – WF4
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are welcoming applications from confident, empathetic, and committed Behaviour Support Workers / Behaviour Mentors to work within a nurturing and supportive school community in Wakefield – WF4. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about helping young learners develop positive behaviour strategies, emotional resilience, and improved engagement in learning.

Your Role as a Behaviour Support / Mentor:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Behavioural, Social, and Emotional Needs (BSEM).
  • Assist in implementing personalised behaviour plans and intervention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and pastoral staff to promote positive learning behaviours.
  • Build trusting relationships to help pupils manage emotions, develop confidence, and stay engaged.
  • Contribute to behaviour monitoring, classroom routines, and general support duties.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs in an educational, youth, or care setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, consistent, and proactive approach when working with learners.
  • Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
