Location: Rotherham (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

An exciting opportunity has arisen at a school in Rotherham (S25) for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team and make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to manage emotions, engage with learning, and develop positive behaviours. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored interventions and maintain a consistent, supportive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs in lessons and during structured activities.
• Assist in implementing personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement.
• Promote emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
• Support students during unstructured times where required.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
• A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
