ADHD SEN Teaching Assistant – Hackney
Daily Rate: £95–£110
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Location: SEND School – Hackney
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND school in Hackney. The role involves providing 1:1 support to a Year 12 student with ADHD, helping them remain engaged in lessons, stay focused, manage transitions, and access their curriculum effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting students with ADHD or behavioural needs, or for someone passionate about making a real difference in a young person’s educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support to a Y12 student with ADHD
- Helping the student remain focused, organised, and on-task
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting with classroom tasks, learning activities, and lesson engagement
- Working closely with class teachers and the SEN team
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and academic progress
- Ensuring the student’s wellbeing, safety, and inclusion at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with students with ADHD or SEN (desired but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- The ability to build trusting relationships with young people
- Reliability, consistency, and a genuine commitment to supporting students
- A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
