Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate / January 2026
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school setting in Dinnington (S25).

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils in managing behaviour, regulating emotions, and engaging positively with learning. You will play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges and build confidence within the classroom.

SEMH TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering structured lessons and interventions.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Help create a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Encourage engagement, resilience, and independence in learning.
  • Monitor progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff.
  • Support with personal care or de-escalation strategies where required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (preferred, not essential).
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL.
