Pay Rate: Up to £110 per day

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen at a local school in Rotherham, who are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful impact.

The school supports children and young people with SEMH and additional needs, providing a structured, supportive environment focused on emotional regulation, behaviour development and personal growth. They work with pupils from diverse backgrounds and place a strong emphasis on individualised support, clear routines and consistent relationships. About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils who may experience emotional, behavioural or mental health barriers to learning. This role offers a valuable opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting both their academic engagement and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities:

Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Implement behaviour and emotional regulation support strategies.

Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement.

Assist with lesson delivery and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.

Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation and positive behaviour techniques.

Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent support.

Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and behaviour where required.
Qualifications:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.

A strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent in challenging situations.

A positive and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
