SEMH Teaching Assistant – Newcastle
Salary: £85–£110 per day
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time or long-term
We are recruiting a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The role requires resilience, empathy, and the ability to build trust with learners who may display challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group SEMH support tailored to individual needs

Assist with behaviour regulation and promote positive coping strategies

Support academic engagement in and out of the classroom

Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils

Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times
Requirements:

Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
-
Calm, patient, and able to de-escalate situations effectively

Strong communication and nurturing approach

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
