SEN Teacher
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: Immediately / As soon as possible
Contract: Full Time

GSL Education are seeking a full-time SEN Teacher to work with KS3 and KS4 learners at a specialist academy in Scarborough, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, committed teacher who thrives in a nurturing, highly supportive environment.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced or aspiring Special Educational Needs Teacher who can:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students with complex learning needs.
  • Adapt teaching styles to support learners with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, Communication Difficulties, and associated needs.
  • Create structured, nurturing classroom environments that promote independence, emotional regulation, and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders to ensure each learner receives personalised support.
  • Use a trauma-informed, relational approach to behaviour and learning.
  • Track progress and contribute to EHCP reviews, assessments, and provision planning.

About the School

You will be joining a highly supportive specialist academy that provides education for children and young people from age 2 to 16. Learners with a wide range of SEND, including Autism, SEMH needs, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and communication needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS / QTLS (or relevant SEND teaching experience).
  • Experience teaching learners with additional needs (SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision desirable).
  • A calm, nurturing, resilient teaching style.
  • Ability to differentiate learning for a wide range of abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Two professional references.
