Hair and Beauty Tutor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, 0.6 timetable Monday to Wednesday), 1 Year Fixed Term
Start Date: February 2026
Salary: MPS/UPS

GSL Education is seeking a Hair & Beauty Tutor to join a specialist secondary provision in York from February 2026. This is a part-time role (Monday–Wednesday) on a fixed 1-year contract, ideal for a vocational specialist who is passionate about helping young people build confidence, practical skills, and future aspirations.

About the Role as a Hair and Beauty Tutor:

We are looking for an engaging, patient and creative Hair & Beauty Tutor who can:

  • Deliver practical and theory-based Hair & Beauty sessions to small groups of KS3 and KS4 learners.
  • Teach core vocational skills such as basic hair techniques, styling, beauty and wellbeing routines, and salon standards.
  • Create a supportive, safe and structured learning environment that meets the needs of learners with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, and other additional needs.
  • Adapt lessons to suit differing abilities and ensure each student can access and succeed in the curriculum.
  • Build confidence, promote independence, and help learners develop employability skills.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and contribute to learner progress reviews and targets.

You will be working within a specialist alternative provision that supports young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH, and communication differences. The school is known for:

As the Ideal Hair and Beauty Tutor, you should have:

  • Experience teaching or delivering Level 1 and Level 2 Hair & Beauty (FE or secondary settings welcome).
  • A relevant qualification in Hair & Beauty.
  • Experience working with young people with additional needs (preferred).
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable teaching style.
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with learners.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Two employment references.
