Pay Rate: £88.94 – £104.84 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Lincoln. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them develop confidence, communication skills, and independence in their learning.

Role Overview:

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to help pupils with autism engage positively in the classroom. You will play a key role in providing tailored support, reducing anxiety, and creating a structured learning environment.

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism.
  • Use visual aids, communication strategies, and routines to assist learning.
  • Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and positive interaction.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs and strengths.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Observe and record progress, sharing updates with the wider support team.

Requirements for Autism Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with autism or experience within a care setting (essential).
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to follow structured support plans and adapt to individual needs.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
