SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in our client schools based in Sheffield. This position offers the chance to support students who may face barriers to learning, helping them develop confidence, emotional resilience, and a positive attitude towards education.
SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to students with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
- Work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning and emotional support plans.
- Foster a nurturing and positive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Encourage and guide students to develop positive behaviour and social skills.
- Support learners individually or in small groups, helping them stay engaged and motivated in their studies.
Requirements for an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs in an educational or care setting.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related discipline is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
- Ability to stay calm and supportive under pressure, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
- Hold a valid enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply through GSL Education.
