Pay Rate: £90 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Behaviour Support professional to work across schools in Barnsley. In this role, you will support pupils who require additional guidance to manage their behaviour, emotions, and classroom engagement. You will work closely with class teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour plans, encourage positive decision-making, and help pupils build the confidence and skills needed for success in education.
As a Behaviour Support, you will:
- Work directly with pupils who present behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties to improve behaviour and engagement.
- Support the delivery of personalised behaviour and intervention plans.
- Promote a calm, positive, and safe learning environment using de-escalation strategies where necessary.
- Monitor pupil progress, behaviour logs, and intervention outcomes.
- Encourage positive choices and resilience through mentoring and pastoral conversations.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure consistency in pupil support.
Candidate Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with behaviour, SEMH, or pastoral needs in a school or community setting.
- Experience working with multi-agency professionals or safeguarding knowledge (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and positive behaviour support approaches.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build respectful relationships with pupils and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when managing challenging behaviour and emotional situations.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply de-escalation techniques effectively.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.
