Salary: £93 - £120 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Lead to support student welfare, behaviour, and engagement across schools in Barnsley.
Role Overview:
This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding pupils’ wellbeing, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive in school.
What you have to do as a Pastoral Lead:
- Provide pastoral support and guidance to students across all year groups.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage attendance, engagement, and personal development.
- Identify and address barriers to learning, including behavioural, social, and emotional challenges.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external partners to deliver holistic support.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
- Monitor and track students’ progress and wellbeing, implementing strategies for improvement.
Pastoral Lead Requirements:
- Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour support, safeguarding, or similar school-based role.
- A strong understanding of pastoral care, emotional wellbeing, and strategies for improving behaviour and attendance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with pupils, families, and staff.
- Confidence in managing challenging conversations with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy school environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.
