EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist Role
South Manchester
Salary: £18,500 - £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Are you a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for Early Years and a deep understanding of SEND and EHCPs? GSL Education Manchester is supporting a highly inclusive primary school in South Manchester to recruit a specialist EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team.
This is a full-time role, ideal for someone with experience working with pupils with complex needs in a Reception or Nursery setting, and who understands how to effectively implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
About the Role:
You’ll be working 1:1 with a child in Reception who requires targeted support with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional development. The school’s strong SEN leadership and external agency links ensure you’ll be well supported, with regular guidance from the SENCO and a welcoming Early Years team.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about early intervention, who thrives in a nurturing, child-led environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, personalised support to a Reception pupil with an EHCP
- Assist with learning, behaviour, and social interaction strategies
- Implement routines and interventions to support the child’s access to the EYFS curriculum
- Liaise with families, teachers, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support
- Contribute to a warm, inclusive classroom that promotes independence and confidence
- Support personal care if required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
✔ Has experience in an EYFS or SEND setting
✔ Understands early years development and how to implement EHCP strategies effectively
✔ Can work closely with children who present with Autism, Speech & Language difficulties, or sensory needs
✔ Communicates clearly with both children and adults
✔ Brings patience, empathy, and consistency to the classroom
✔ Thrives in a collaborative school environment where every voice matters
To work with GSL Education, you must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with two professional references from the last two years
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
- Understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection policies
