SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Gainsborough, Lincolnshire
Contract: Full-Time, Supply or Long-Term
Salary: £88 – £104 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking to recruit a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support schools in Gainsborough. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) education, mental health services, or within HMPs.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide both academic and emotional support to students who may present challenging behaviours or require additional help to engage in learning. Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams, you’ll help pupils to build confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

  • Assist pupils with both personal development and academic progress

  • Collaborate with staff to deliver tailored support

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in an SEMH school, mental health setting, or HMPs

  • Strong interpersonal skills with resilience and patience

  • Good understanding of behaviour management strategies

  • Qualifications related to mental health are desirable
