Salary: £90–£100 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work in schools across Eastbourne. This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and reach their personal goals. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Your support will include one-to-one and small group interventions, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
Your Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with special educational needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering lesson content effectively.
- Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and social development.
- Adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, highlighting areas of concern.
- Support pupils during assessments and help them achieve learning targets.
- Promote independence and self-confidence in learning.
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of materials.
- Encourage engagement in extracurricular activities where appropriate.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification desirable.
- A degree in psychology, SEN or a similar field.
- Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting pupils.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
