Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Brighton
Salary: £90–£100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/ Long Term, Full time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Brighton.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure that all students are given equal opportunities to achieve success. You will support pupils in one-to-one and small group settings, adapt learning materials, and encourage positive behaviour to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs to help them access the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver lesson content effectively.
  • Assist students both inside and outside the classroom, promoting confidence and independence.
  • Implement strategies to manage and support challenging behaviour positively.
  • Adapt teaching resources and approaches to suit individual learning styles.
  • Encourage social and emotional development through patience and understanding.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to teachers or SENCOs.
  • Support students during assessments and help them achieve personal targets.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all pupils.

Requirements for an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification desirable.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN environment.
  • A degree in psychology, SEN or a similar field.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and support individual student needs.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
