Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Killamarsh, S21
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time
Are you a patient and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education are seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in the Killamarsh (S21) area. As a SEMH TA, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment, enabling students to build confidence, resilience, and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist teachers in implementing behaviour management and emotional support strategies.
- Encourage pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress to inform tailored intervention plans.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEMH needs.
- Understanding of behaviour management and emotional support techniques.
- Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
