Full-Time Maths Teacher – Secondary School in Portsmouth, Hampshire

GSL Education are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Maths Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire. This full-time position is set to begin in September or October 2025, with the potential for a permanent contract following a successful probation period. The school welcomes applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs)experienced educators, and unqualified teachers with a strong background in Mathematics.

Responsibilities of a Maths Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Mathematics that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Plan and implement effective schemes of work that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking school culture.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events related to Mathematics and STEM.
  • Promote the importance of numeracy, analytical thinking, and resilience in students’ academic and personal development.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in Mathematics education.

Required Qualifications for a Maths Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (applications from unqualified teachers with strong subject knowledge are welcome).
  • A genuine passion for Mathematics and education.
  • Experience teaching Maths at the secondary level (ECTs are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that inspire students.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to student achievement, well-being, and continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to working with colleagues.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
