Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Hathersage, S32
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Hathersage. The successful candidate as an SEMH TA will work closely with students who require additional guidance, fostering a safe and positive environment that encourages progress and personal growth.

Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Deliver tailored support to students with SEMH needs in class and during small group activities.
  • Assist teachers in creating engaging, accessible, and differentiated lessons.
  • Encourage students to develop self-confidence, resilience, and positive behaviours.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or similar needs.
  • Empathetic, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
