Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield, S12
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield. As an SEMH TA, this role is ideal for someone who can provide tailored support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential in both academic and personal development.
Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
- Promote students’ social skills, self-esteem, and independence.
- Manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or similar.
- A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
- A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
