SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – Secondary School – Eastleigh, Hampshire

A secondary school in Eastleigh is seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated resource base from September 2025. This specialist provision supports students on Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language difficulties. The school offers excellent opportunities for progression, with the chance to move through pay grades as experience grows. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a background in education or the care sector who can bring transferable skills in supporting children with SEN or physical disabilities.
Role Responsibilities of the SEN TA:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for students with additional needs.
- Assist in the delivery of learning activities, adapting resources to meet individual requirements.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students with their social, emotional, and communication development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
Job Requirements of the SEN TA:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN settings (care sector experience considered).
- Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow guidance and adapt to different situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
