SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a Client Secondary School located in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teaching staff.
  • Assist with lesson delivery, adapting tasks to make learning accessible and engaging.
  • Implement strategies to support the student's emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Assist with emotional regulation strategies and de-escalate challenging behaviour.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEN.
  • Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD or SLD.
  • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
