Located in Colchester, this alternative provision offers a structured and nurturing environment for students aged 11–16 who benefit from a more personalised approach to education. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs including SEMH, behavioural challenges, and those transitioning back into mainstream settings. The team is collaborative, student-focused, and driven by inclusion and impact.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Pastoral Leader, you will support students' emotional, social, and academic development while maintaining high standards of behaviour and care. You will:

  • Be a visible Pastoral Leader across the school, helping pupils transition between lessons and stay engaged
  • Support behaviour interventions, wellbeing programmes, and restorative approaches
  • Lead on behaviour investigations under the guidance of SLT
  • Work in partnership with the SENCo, safeguarding team, and external agencies
  • Build trust and communication with parents, carers, and multi-agency teams
  • Develop student voice and leadership programmes that shape school culture
  • Monitor pupil data, identify trends, and act proactively

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience in a school setting as a Pastoral Leader, Behaviour Mentor, or similar role
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with vulnerable pupils
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure
  • Solid understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and trauma-informed approaches
  • A positive, committed attitude to making a difference
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in youth work, behaviour support, or learning support
