Role Overview

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ literacy skills and foster a deep appreciation for the English language. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities of English Teacher

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support development.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, writing competitions, or drama productions.
  • Uphold safeguarding and health and safety standards in all aspects of teaching.
  • Collaborate with staff to support whole-school initiatives and student wellbeing.

Essential Qualifications for English Teacher

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A passion for literature and language education.
  • Ability to provide a 10-year career history with references covering the last two years.
