Behaviour Support Assistant (SEN) – Mainstream Primary School – Weymouth, Dorset
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £13.68 per hour

GSL Education are seeking a committed Behaviour Support Assistant (SEN) to join a mainstream primary school in Weymouth, Dorset on a full-time, permanent basis starting in September 2025.
In this role, you will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with behavioural and special educational needs. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and academic engagement in a safe and supportive environment.
Main Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant (SEN):
- Provide targeted support to pupils with behavioural and SEN needs
- Help manage classroom behaviour and implement positive behaviour strategies
- Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
- Work with small groups and individuals to boost learning and confidence
- Liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to support pupil progress
- Monitor and record behaviour incidents and progress updates
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
Behaviour Support Assistant (SEN) Qualifications:
- Previous experience supporting children with behavioural or SEN needs is desirable
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with young learners
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
