PSHE Teacher – Secondary School – Portsmouth, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Are you a dedicated PSHE Teacher committed to equipping young people with the knowledge and skills they need for life beyond the classroom?
GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic PSHE Teacher to join a supportive mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of £30,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience. Applications are welcome from Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) holders, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and suitably qualified overseas-trained teachers.
This is an excellent opportunity to deliver engaging lessons that cover key areas of personal, social, health, and economic education, helping students build confidence, resilience, and responsibility.
Responsibilities of a Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) Teacher:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PSHE lessons in line with the school’s curriculum
- Teach across Key Stages, adapting lessons to meet the needs of different abilities
- Promote a safe and inclusive classroom where students feel comfortable discussing sensitive topics
- Encourage critical thinking, resilience, and positive decision-making among students
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies
- Collaborate with colleagues and pastoral teams to deliver a holistic education
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives that support student wellbeing and personal development
- Stay updated with best practices and current guidance in PSHE education
PSHE Teacher Qualifications:
- QTS, ECT, or overseas-qualified teacher status
- A degree in Education, Humanities, or a related subject area
- Prior experience working as a PSHE Teacher in secondary schools
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage students in discussion-based learning
- Ability to foster positive relationships and provide pastoral support to students
- Classroom management skills and a commitment to inclusive education
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
