Salary: £95 - £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are actively welcoming dedicated individuals to take on the role of Behaviour Mentor at a welcoming and inclusive school located in Swinton (S64). This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils who need consistent and encouraging adult role models.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may display challenging behaviour due to social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs. You will play a key role in helping them re-engage with their learning, develop self-regulation skills, and build confidence in a supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis who require behaviour interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to manage incidents effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Act as a mentor and trusted adult, encouraging students to reflect on choices and develop coping strategies.
  • Record and report behavioural incidents, progress, and outcomes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Create a safe, nurturing learning environment that fosters respect and mutual understanding.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or SEMH needs in a school, care, or youth setting.
  • A compassionate, consistent, and calm approach to managing behaviour.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to model respectful behaviour and set clear expectations.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
