Substitute Teacher – Secondary School – Gosport, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to join schools in Gosport from September 2025. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work across various mainstream secondary schools, gaining valuable experience and making a positive impact on student learning. The salary for this position ranges from £94 to £140 per day, based on your experience.
As a Substitute Teacher, you will deliver planned lessons, maintain classroom order, and ensure continuity of education during the absence of permanent staff. This role is ideal for teachers who enjoy flexible assignments and building strong relationships within the local education community.
Main Responsibilities of a Substitute Teacher:
- Deliver engaging lessons following provided plans and school guidelines
- Maintain positive behaviour and a productive classroom atmosphere
- Support students’ learning and well-being throughout the school day
- Communicate effectively with permanent teaching staff to ensure smooth transitions
- Complete all required records including attendance and behaviour logs
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of different students and classes
- Manage classroom resources and maintain an organised learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding policies to protect student welfare
Substitute Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification
- Experience teaching in secondary school settings
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
