Salary: £150 - £230 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a skilled and nurturing SEMH Teacher to join a specialist setting in the S26 area of Sheffield. This is your chance to provide transformative teaching for young people facing social and emotional barriers to learning.

Role Overview:

As an SEMH Teacher, you will be working within a specialised school or provision that caters to pupils who present with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. You will play a key role in fostering a safe, therapeutic learning environment where pupils can thrive academically and emotionally. The ability to manage behaviour effectively, show patience, and tailor your teaching to individual needs is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver adapted and engaging lessons across the curriculum, suited to the emotional and educational needs of the students.
  • Work closely with support staff, SENCOs and mental health professionals to implement EHCPs and behaviour support strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with students that support emotional development and academic progress.
  • Use restorative and trauma-informed practices to manage and support behaviour.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, updating planning accordingly to support ongoing development.
  • Promote resilience, social interaction, and emotional regulation through your daily teaching.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom culture where all pupils feel safe and valued.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Prior experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs, or in an alternative provision/PRU setting.
  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice, behaviour de-escalation, and mental health support.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confident, compassionate, and adaptable in your approach.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
