Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Moordown
Start Date: Immediate or September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 Per Hour 

Do you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs? GSL Education are looking for a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Moordown. This full-time role involves working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who have EHCPs, providing tailored support for with low cognitive ability, including challenging behaviour.

About the Role:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for pupils with low cognitive ability, primarily working with EHCP students. In the mornings, you will support Year 2 pupils, while in the afternoons, you will work with Upper KS2 students. Your focus will be on providing tailored support to help these pupils thrive in school, with minimal behaviour management required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for children with EHCPs, adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support small group work as directed by the class teacher or SENCo.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and calmly.
  • Support pupils with personal care if required.
  • Work closely with the wider SEND team and contribute to review meetings.
  • Assist in tracking pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with EHCPs.
  • An understanding of strategies for managing behaviour positively.
  • A patient, calm, and flexible approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) – desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
