Learning Support Assistant
Location: Boscombe, Dorset
Salary: £13.68 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time considered for the right candidate)
Are you dedicated to supporting children’s learning and development in a primary school setting?
GSL Education are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Boscombe, Dorset. This is a full-time, permanent role starting September 2025, with part-time options available for the right candidate.
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work alongside teaching staff to support pupils with their learning needs. You will assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive academically and socially.
Your Responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across the curriculum
- Assist teachers in delivering effective and engaging lessons
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive attitudes
- Prepare and organise classroom resources and materials
- Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff
- Supervise pupils during breaks and lunchtimes when required
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to meet pupil needs
- Promote independence and confidence in learning
- Support extracurricular activities and school trips as needed
Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Requirements:
- Experience working in a UK primary school or similar setting as a Learning Support Assistant or similar
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Teaching Assistance/Childcare, or equivalent qualification (desirable).
- A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting children
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
