GSL Education are in search of a committed and motivated Academic Support Assistant to work in a mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, supporting them academically and emotionally throughout their school journey.
Key Responsibilities of an Academic Support Assistant:
- Provide tailored academic support to students across a range of subjects.
- Work 1:1 and in small groups to reinforce classroom learning.
- Help identify learning barriers and implement effective support strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to adapt learning materials and monitor student progress.
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence in learning.
- Support the classroom environment and assist in maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.
Academic Support Assistant Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience in a school or academic support role is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach to working with young people.
- A genuine interest in education and student development.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
